Reach the Peak Third Annual Asthma Seminar

April 12 - 13, 2010
The Colorado Asthma Coalition, The Children’s Hospital, and the American Lung Association in Colorado are pleased to present the Reach the Peak 3rd Annual Asthma Seminar (previously the Asthma Educator-Certified Prep Course). Reach the Peak will prepare participants to:

  • Describe the pathophysiology and contributing factors of the asthma condition.
  • Conduct a patient and family assessment, including medical history, objective measures of asthma severity and educational needs
  • Develop an Asthma Action Plan, including prescribed medications and behavioral and environmental modifications.

Improve asthma care, including integrating newly acquired knowledge into clinical practice, defining program outcomes and developing a network of referrals.

This comprehensive 2 day program (to be held at Children's Hospital, 13123 East 16th Avenue, Aurora, CO) will equip participants to successfully complete the Asthma Educator-Certified (AE-C) board exam. This is not a typical seminar! Facilitated by a multi-disciplinary faculty of leading physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists, pharmacists and behavioral health experts, the course will include a combination of lecture, case scenarios, hands-on device technique, networking and small group strategizing. Each participant will receive a Resource Book and CD, Asthma Device Instruction DVD and Asthma Education Toolkit with placebo training devices, valved holding chamber and peak flow meter. Continuing education credits will be offered.

Tuition: Early registration (due by March 12, 2010) - $295
Regular registration - $335
